Installation guide
Learn how to apply your decals. We walk you through everything from preparing, cleaning and aligning and how you make the decals stick season after season. Assembling the graphics may be tricky, even to an experienced installer, since it is a strong, qualitative adhesive. Our material has NO air release channels (25% more adhesive). It’s a “polymeric” vinyl, non-stretchable (NOT like a “cast” car wrap vinyl). Try to stretch and use a heatgun as little as possible during the installation. But once the installation is done, follow the last instruction about heating up all pieces and edges. Keep your head cold – and it will turn out perfectly.
Tools needed
Heat gun
Clean cloth, preferably microfiber
Detergent
Plastic scraper (included)
Preparation
Start by removing any previous stickers as the contours of these will appear through the foil. You can do this by heating them up with the heat gun, then carefully picking up an edge and pulling them out. Be sure to clean your vehicle, especially in areas where there were previous sticker. Use a good detergent to remove grease. (Surface cleaner) For removing old glue/adhesive use label off spray. Check carefully where each piece should be placed, it’s quite easy to figure out.
Installation
Use a spray gun with water mixed with a drop of washing-up liquid (dish soap) and spray some on the back of the decal and some on the vehicle. This makes it easy to adjust the pieces/ the design to the right position. The adhesive on these stickers are extra strong, making it very difficult to remove the pieces once you start applying them.
Apply a decal piece very lightly and check that it fits in with the other pieces. Once you get it perfectly in place, take the scraper (squeezer) and use its soft side to drag it from the center and outwards on the piece, – It’s important to get out ALL the water and air. Now the sticker is permanent and can’t be removed without being destroyed.
After all the pieces are placed and made ”permanent”, it’s time to move on to “absolutely permanent” by applying heat to each piece with a heatgun. A good rule of thumb on how much heat to apply is to try it while your hand is on the decal, just when it starts to feel uncomfortable for your hand you have the right temperature. Hover about 10-15cm over each piece with the heatgun while applying pressure to it with your other hand, firmly pushing/stroking the decal.
Post heating
Once you are done done it’s time to work on some extra treatment on the edges with about the same amount of heat, heat up the edge of the piece and apply pressure to it with you thumb. Press it outwards firmly with your thumb and work your way around the pieces not missing anything, heating the edges as you go.
Tips
Air vent meshes are prone to melting so use the heat gun around them cautiously, or even better, remove the meshes entirely if possible.
*If you notice a bubble somewhere on the decal you can get rid of it by punching a hole at the bottom and at the side of the bubble with a needle and then use the heat gun and push gently towards the hole with your thumb. For the best adhesive effect let it sit for 24 hours then check all edges again before use.
